Description of Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Field Applications Engineer is to proactively solve customers’ design challenges through creative application of XMOS technology solutions. This position has a significant amount of customer interfacing activity and requires excellent communications skills in addition to a strong design background, audio design experience, SoC/Processor design experience and/or architecture knowledge, and AI programming design experience and/or knowledge.
The FAE will work closely with the customers to understand their system application and goals, suggest XMOS solutions to fit the system, work with XMOS Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Business Development groups to define new products to meet customer needs, advance the technology solutions within the customer base, and then support the design cycle in the customer.
The FAE will also act in a teaching capacity with Sales channels and the design community, and the ability to work proactively with an independent Sales Representative sales force is a must. The primary customers to be supported are in the US, but travel to other areas of the world may be required. Must be willing to travel extensively within North America.
Experience with target customers in the consumer audio and consumer IoT/AIoT spaces is preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
- 5-8 years of practical design or application experience
- BSEE or equivalent

- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong technical background in audio systems, SoC/Processor design and programming experience, AI experience.
- System design experience, preferably in audio, processor, and AI applications.
- Keen problem solving skill set
- Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems
- Strong team and matrix management background
- Ability to communicate crisply with Engineering, Sales, and Marketing
- Ability to work proactively hand in hand with Rep Sales force to drive sales
